Tara's Ticket To : The French Riviera

Enjoy a heady sojourn along The French Riviera as writer and presenter Tara Elise Simmonds unravels the chic, beautiful region of the Mediterranean that has drawn tourists and inspired artists since the 1800s.

The French Riviera. A world with my six travel essentials – history, art, food, wine, great shopping and… cheese.

Tara by the Nice beach

The French Riviera - 43 minutes

On this trip we explore why so many talented artists like Matisse, Dupont, Chagall, Leger and Picasso moved to the Cote d’Azur, and how they were inspired to produce magnificent, iconic pieces of art. I visit glitzy Cannes where the fabulous Cannes Film Festival has just begun, explore an island run by monks producing some of the world’s finest wine, mingle with the jet set in exquisite St Tropez, hang out with yachties in the medieval harbour town of Antibes, keep pace with the English and Russian aristocracy in Nice, and finally cruise into Monte Carlo to catch the heady excitement of the Monaco Grand Prix.
